Windows provide shelter, protect our homes from the elements and allow us to bring views of the outdoors, indoors.
But while practical, that doesn’t mean our windows have to look boring! We can decorate our windows with dressings that help to express the mood and décor of our home, or enhance the ambience of a room by introducing different textures and colours.
When it comes to window dressings, there are some simple, subtle ways that they can be used to uplift the look and feel of any room:
- Colour – Often when we think of colour choices, we think of wall paint or furniture. But window dressings are a great way to add a touch of colour and vibrancy to a room. Be bold; make your blinds pop!
- Pattern – Blinds can transform any space, especially with a striking pattern. If you’re loving a complex pattern but want to tone it down, go for a subtle colour and when the sun shines through, see your new blinds become a piece of art.
- Contrast – If the thought of big colours or loud patterns makes you nervous, why not use contrast instead. Using contrasting colours, or blinds in two colours on the same window are great ways to bring texture into a room.
